Dr. Maha Sabah Shakir Founder, Lead Instructor

Maha Sabah Shakir, MD, FACS is the founder of Lake Oswego Vein & Aesthetic Center. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

She moved to Portland after completing her medical school in Iraq. In Portland, she attended OHSU to complete her General Surgery Residency. Then spent one year at UCSF to receive further advanced training in Minimally Invasive Surgery. As a clinician, she encourages her patients to take an active role in their care and guide them to make the right decision in that regard by providing up-to-date outstanding quality care.

Dr. Shakir is one of the faculty on practicalCME. She teaches other providers in Oregon through live CME training Botox, Dermal filler, Sclerotherapy and Thread Lifts.

Dr. Shakir followed in her father’s footsteps, who was a Primary Care Physician in Iraq. The rewarding relationships that he had with his patients inspired her to become a doctor. She chooses to be a surgeon she says: “because I enjoy working with my hands and it is very satisfying to see the immediate improvement the patient feels after the procedure is performed.” Her family, husband and three boys are the joy of her life. She enjoys hiking, running, traveling and cooking together.
